Nothing new to Update

Sadly, it feels like we haven't made any progress since our last post with our adoption. It is heart warming to hear that there have been referals as well as some children coming to Canada since Christmas 2009.

Yesterday our Little Brother Hunter and I (Dan) pulled the old carpet up in what is slated to be the "baby's" room. It was a bit nasty. We now have to decide on some sort of flooring for the room. We will keep working away on these projects, and this Blog to keep us busy.

Our Number

We are number 229!!!

WOW it feels good so good to have a number.....but now the calculating has started.

I know we are still a couple years away from becoming parents but each step closer is so exciting!

Our dossier is still going to be in Canada for a while but that is alright.

Today is February 1st 2010. That means we officially decided to adopt from Ethiopia 20 months ago. Our initial estimate was around two years.....we are fast approaching that mark and we definitely don't have a referral.

Last weekend we gave away the futon that was in the "baby's room" to my sister, and are trying to decide what we should do when in the room. Realistically we are at least 18 months minimum away from bringing our child home, but it feels as though we are being negligent leaving the room empty with no toys, no crib, same old ugly carpet and paint from the previous owner. We have to send pictures to Ethiopia when it comes time to send our dossier, and as I took them I couldn't help but think they looked lame. If we started the project then we would have some content for our blog at least! That settles it, we will go looking for non-gender specific paint chips and carpet samples tonight.

Weight Lifted

Today it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off of our shoulders. We received our notarized papers back from the lawyer and have sent them on to Imagine. Now it is all out of our hands and the WAIT begins!!! How exciting!!!
